🚨 Travel Advice for Lithuania

Major restrictions

International travel to Latvia is permitted for vaccinated travelers. There are exceptions for non-vaccinated citizens of the European Economic Area and those traveling for 'essential reasons'.
It is necessary to comply with requirements to ensure entry is allowed.

Exceptional travel

Exemptions to the border closure are in place for essential reasons such as for specific professions with entry approval from the government, including travel for studies. Vaccinations and vaccinated travel

Travelers who present a valid certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, are permitted to travel and are exempt from testing and quarantine requirements.
The final dose must have been administered at least 14 days but not more than 210 days before departure. Travelers who have received a booster vaccine are also exempt immediately after the booster administration. Lithuanian citizens and residents may enter without proof of vaccination but will be required to isolation requirements.

EU Digital COVID Certificate

Travelers may provide their EU Digital Certificate in paper or digital format as proof of vaccination, negative test result, or previous recovery. Health documents provided this way will not require further verification on arrival.

Quarantine required

Travelers are required to self-isolate for 10 days on arrival. This period can be shortened if a PCR test is taken on day 7 and a negative result is confirmed. Travelers may apply to shorten the isolation period at https://nvsc.lrv.lt/shorten-1
Those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from isolation requirements and may provide proof of a positive PCR test, issued at least 14 days before departure and not more than 90 days.

Test/medical certificate required

Proof of a negative PCR test taken within the previous 72 hours, or an antigen test taken within the previous 48 hours, must be provided on departure. The test certificate must be in Lithuanian, English, or Russian.
Those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from testing requirements and may provide proof of a positive PCR test, taken no more than 90 days.
Travelers arriving for humanitarian reasons do not require pre-departure testing but must book to be tested up to 24 hours after arrival in Lithuania.

Additional test requirements

Government measures

A state of national emergency has been declared which limits all private gatherings to a maximum of 10 people. A National Certificate (EU Digital Certificate) as proof of vaccination, testing, or recovery is required to access most facilities and establishments. Those that do not request a National Certificate are subject to strict capacity limits. We recommend keeping up-to-date with official guidelines throughout your trip. Use of masks

Face masks or respirators are required in indoor public places, public transport, and when social distancing cannot be maintained outdoors. Face masks are recommended when mixing with people outdoors from different households.

Public transport

Public transport is partially operational with capacity limited to seating availability. When possible, tickets should be purchased in advance.

Restaurants

Restaurants are open with reduced capacity to allow for social distancing. Customers may need to provide their EU Digital Certificate to be permitted entry.

Bars

Bars are open with reduced capacity to allow for social distancing. Customers may need to provide their National Certificate to be permitted entry.

Nightclubs

Nightclubs are open with reduced capacity to allow for social distancing. Customers may need to provide their National Certificate to be permitted entry.

Shops

Shops and services are open with adapted safety measures in place, such as the use of hand sanitizer and social distancing. Non-essential businesses may require proof of a National Certificate upon entry.

On return

Vaccinations and vaccinated travel

Travelers who present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, with the use of an approved vaccine, do not require an essential reason to enter and are exempt from quarantine requirements.
Vaccinated travelers must still provide a pre-departure test and may be randomly selected to be tested on arrival. Travelers are also required to have a suitable quarantine plan in place for 14 days as a precaution, even when seeking the fully vaccinated exemption.
Proof of vaccination must be uploaded on the ArriveCAN application. The final dose must have been administered at least 15 days before departure and supporting documentation must be in English, French, or with a certified translation.

Quarantine required

Travelers are required to self-quarantine for 14 days on arrival at their own residence or accommodation.
Travelers testing negative on the day-8 test may leave quarantine 14 days after arrival. Travelers testing positive will undergo further 10-day quarantine from the day the test was taken and follow the instructions of local authorities.

Testing on arrival

A molecular test will be administered on arrival and travelers will be provided COVID-19 at-home specimen collection kits which must be taken on day 8 of the quarantine period. The kit contains information on how to collect, store and ship the samples.

Entry rules depend on the country you're travelling from. Check with the Lithuanian Ministry of Health website to ensure you'll be permitted to enter. You may need to provide a negative COVID-19 test or evidence of being fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine (see β€˜Travel’). You may also need to self-isolate. You must register with the National Health Centre before arrival. Due to the situation on the border with Belarus, Lithuania has introduced a state of emergency in areas within approximately 5 kilometres of the Lithuanian/Belarusian border. There are entry restrictions to these areas. Follow the instructions of Lithuanian authorities and carry ID with you at all times if you're in these areas.
